|REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, LICENSES & CERTS
|This position requires graduation from an accredited four year college or university with major course work in civil engineering, environmental engineering or related engineering field; six (6)years experience in professional engineering work in developing, applying, interpreting or enforcing environmental regulations and ordinances, including four (4) years supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of education and training.NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Florida.
In those instances in which a registered engineer signs any document for the County in the performance of his/her regular work, that employee shall be accorded such protection and immunity from any lawsuit as a result of his/her conduct within the scope of his/her employment to the extent provided by law.
|NATURE OF WORK AND ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS:
|This is a highly responsible technical and administrative position that offers the opportunity to positively impact public health, safety and welfare through high level implementation of environmental regulations.Work involves providing overall direction and administration of surface water management, domestic and non-domestic wastewater, wetland mitigation, tree preservation, aquatic resource protection and NPDES MS4 permit and license programs. Duties include planning, assigning, and reviewing the work of a professional staff of engineers and biologists engaged in the review of engineering and natural resource documents and designs. Position also serves and the Floodplain Administrator and Community Rating System Coordinator for the Broward Municipal Services District (unincorporated Broward County).
